The Cartwheel was originally built as a pair of Cottages in 1796, probably replacing an earlier building. In 1843 George Hood was the owner converting the houses into an inn or beerhouse in 1860. The Beer was bought from Carter’s Brewery of Ringwood which was then bought by Strong’s of Romsey who also purchased The Cartwheel. The Pub was then sold in 1974 and has traded as a freehouse suntil Ringwood Brewery bought it in 2003. The Village shop operated from what is now The Cartroom but this closed in 1960.
